The main Covent Garden market building and surrounding buildings are owned and managed by Capital & Counties (CapCo), an investment and development company. The area was sold back to the private sector in 1988 after a period of public ownership and later some intense gentrification. It has subsequently gone through further stages of regeneration as CapCo buys up more properties in the area.
