Pissoirs, London

In response to the lack of public toilet facilities across most UK cities - most public toilets were removed in the 1980s and 90s, or were converted into bars - french style pissoirs have appeared in different shapes and forms. This one in the City of London appears from out of the ground on busy evenings in order to pursuade men to stop urinating in the street and on buildings, in the morning it lowers back into the pavement. One would assume the reason why many people urinate in the street is because public toilets have been removed. Women are not catered for.
